LGA1150 is the socket for Intel's 4th generation Core processors (Haswell, 2013) and the 2014 Haswell Refresh, on 8-series chipsets (Z87, H87, B85, H81) and 9-series chipsets (Z97, H97). The 9-series boards also run the two 5th generation Broadwell desktop chips. Memory is DDR3 only. It is an end-of-line platform, bought to repair an old PC, to reuse a processor you already own or for a cheap home server, and many of the boards on sale now are new Micro-ATX designs from smaller makers with an NVMe M.2 slot added.
